The problems linked with racial discrimination, victims of racial injustice, various protests and marches, people's fighting for their rights; the support of the victims of racial injustice. In recent years a number of families of the victims of injustice have shown a remarkable determination to campaign for truth and accountability. The Civil Rights Movement was at a peak from 1955-1965. Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, after nearly a decade of protests and marches, ranging from the 1955-1956 Montgomery bus boycott. It officially started
on December 1, 1955.Perhaps the movement started on the
day in 1943 when a black seamstress paid her bus
fare and then watched the bus drive off as she tried to re-enter
through the rear door.
Perhaps the movement started on the day in 1949 when a black
professor absentmindedly sat at the front of a nearly empty bus,
then ran off in tears when the bus driver screamed at her.Perhaps the movement started on the day in the 1950s when a
black pastor tried to get other blacks to leave
a bus in protest.The
story of the Montgomery Bus Boycott is often told as a
happy tale. The truth is a little less romantic.
Inspired by the example of people, fighting for their freedom,
we have come together to build
a new movement. Our aim is to provide support for the victims of racial
injustice, to promote family-based campaigns and to challenge the
criminal justice system.
The NCRM is a national-wide network of
individuals and families. In particular we are committed to
challenging the discriminatory criminal justice system and
institutional racism in all forms. |
